I used to be a cadet officer for Police Corps in Singapore (National Police Cadet Corps). The easiest food you can make is instant noodle and it is handy for outdoor camps and trips. Instant noodle is a survival food.

1) Instant Noodle pack

2) Water

3) Egg (and preferably vegetables)

Instruction :

1) Boil water in pot until it is boiling

2) Put in noodle and soup base

3) Add beaten egg and vegetable until cook and noodle soft

4) Serve!

Time taken : 4 - 5 mins

Happy camp leading!
Chicken Focaccia Sandwiches

This recipe is so delicious you can serve it to company. The combination of textures and flavors is really wonderful.

INGREDIENTS:

1 can refrigerated pizza dough

2 cloves minced garlic

2 Tbsp. olive oil

1 tsp. dried tarragon leaves

12 oz. can dark and white meat chicken, well drained

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1 Tbsp. honey dijon mustard

2 stalks celery, chopped

1 tsp. dried tarragon leaves

1 avocado, peeled and chopped

PREPARATION:

Unroll pizza dough and place on greased cookie sheet. Cut into 4 pieces crosswise. Combine garlic, olive oil and 1 tsp. dried tarragon in small bowl. Spoon half of this mixture over pizza dough pieces

Fold each dough piece in half, starting with short side. Press surface with fingers to dimple. Spoon remaining garlic mixture over folded dough pieces. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until light golden brown.

Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients in small bowl. When focaccia is done, remove from oven, let cool slightly, then gently pull each apart to split in half and fill with chicken salad mixture. Serves 4

Different Egg Microwaving Techniques

Fried Eggs

Break and slip one egg into each of two lightly greased 10-ounce custard cups or a pie plate. Gently prick yolks with tip of knife or wooden pick. Cover with plastic wrap. Cook on 50% power for about two to three minutes. Let stand, covered until whites are completely set and yolks begin to thicken but are not hard.

Hard-Cooked Eggs

Separate yolks and whites of eggs into two lightly greased liquid measures or small bowls. Stir yolks with fork. Cover each container with plastic wrap. Cook separately on 50% or 30% power, stirring once or twice, allowing about 20 to 30 seconds per yolk, about 30 seconds to one minute per white. Remove when slightly underdone. Let stand, covered, for about two minutes. Cool long enough to handle comfortably, then chop or chill until ready to chop.

Poached Eggs

Pour 1/3 cup water into 10-ounce custard cup or small deep bowl. Break and slip in two eggs. Gently prick yolks with tip of knife or wooden pick. Cover with plastic wrap. Cook on full power for one to two minutes. If necessary, let stand, covered, until whites are completely set and yolks begin to thicken but are not hard, for about one to two minutes. Pour off water to serve in custard cup or lift out with slotted spoon. NOTE: For four eggs, use 2/3-cup water in one-quart bowl or baking dish. Cook for two to three minutes and let stand as above.

Do NOT cook eggs in their shells.

Steam builds up inside the shell and the egg may explode under the pressure.

Shelled hard-boiled eggs should be sliced or cut up before reheating in the microwave oven. Mix yolks and whites together for scrambled eggs and omelets, to help them cook evenly. The vinegar or hot water used to potato eggs coagulates and sets the whites. Yolks will cook faster than whites in microwaves unless mixed.

Microwave Bacon

Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Microwave Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Serves: 4-6 bacon slices

Ingredients:

1lb Bacon slices

Microwave dish

Paper towels

Paper plate

If the packaged sliced bacon is cold from the refrigerator, slowly slide the dull edge of a butter knife along the length between the strips to separate slices. Take the bacon out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking and the slices should separate easier.

Place a microwave-safe paper towel in a microwavable dish large enough to fit a single layer of bacon slices (four to six slices). Cover with another paper towel. Cook for about four to five minutes on high, depending on the wattage of your microwave and the thickness of the bacon. Start checking after the first two minutes, and continue cooking at one-minute intervals. Consult your microwave manual for specific times.

To cook 1 lb. of bacon, place a paper towel on a paper plate and lay three slices of bacon on top. Cover with a second paper towel. Lay the other three slices on top, cover with another paper towel, and continue layering the remaining bacon three slices at a time. Putting more slices in a layer will cause excess grease to leek out onto the bottom of the oven. Cook for 15 minutes at 100% power until cooked. Remember food continues to cook after it has been taken out of the microwave, so allow standing time.

Pickled Orange Slices

Cook, uncovered, for 6 minutes on HIGH. Put in the orange slices and cover with cling film/plastic wrap. Cook for 10 minutes on MEDIUM, or until the orange rind looks clearer. Remove the cling film/plastic wrap, seal and cover while still warm. Keep in the refrigerator.

Popcorn

You can usually buy a box of micrwavable popcorn from almost any grocery store, usually in various flavours: natural, plain, toffee, butter, extra butter, etc.

Remove one bag of popcorn from the box and unfold the bag so that the inner side of the fold faces upward. This is usually where the instructions are pre-printed.

Use judgment when choosing the appropriate cooking time, and do not leave the popcorn unattended whilst cooking! Remove the bag of popcorn from the oven. The bag should now have doubled in size due to the popcorn kernels expanding. Whilst opening the bag of popcorn, keep your face away from the opening and let the steam escape from the bag.

If you have not heated the popcorn for long enough, you will find 'unpopped' kernels in the bag. Unfortunately, these cannot be reheated.
